This route and location planning course has been designed to complement the Activity Leadership Course. Its aim is to teach the skills needed to plan and risk assess routes for guided group drives and rides of varying numbers and abilities.

Knowing a great route and introducing it to others are very different skills. This course will help you gain the tips and skills to create a great driving or riding route.

To ensure that candidates can plan and navigate safe, interesting and inspirational routes, an assessment of the competency of candidates is required. This practical and theoretical based endorsement will cover:

  • Roles and responsibilities of a oute planner

  • What makes a good quality route

  • What factors need to be considered when planning for varying numbers and ability levels

  • Planning and navigation tools, including map work and use of Google Mapping

Course pre-requisites

All candidates will need to have successfully completed the Activity Leadership Level 1 first.

What do I need to bring on the course?

In addition to the items needed for the Activity Leadership course, please bring along a GPS and compass if you have them. We will have compasses available on the course if you need one.
