Divisions are the various disciplines or activities of the AMA, which are identified with ASIC registered trading names.
Each Division is housed under the relevant Social, Education, Sport and Recreation event categories.
Divisions usually have a Volunteer Controller to help coordinate the activities and events of the Division along with a small but dedicated volunteer support team.
The role of a Volunteer Division Controller (VDC) is to:
- work with local AMA groups, clubs and branches and help with the coordination of calendar dates for local, regional, state and national activities and the promotion of those activities;
- work with local AMA groups, clubs and branches and help them attract partners, sponsors and advertisers to support the clubs in their efforts to organise local, regional, state and national activities; and
- work with local AMA groups, clubs and branches across the country to help get more people involved in recreational vehicle activities and motor vehicle sport and recreation.
Generally, VDC's work within the Australian motor vehicle and recreational vehicle industries, ie. with a manufacturer, importer, dealer, accessory or associated retail business and have the flexibility to perform some of the role during those normal working hours.
In return for providing such support to the AMA and the VDC, businesses have the opportunity to promote individual events and event series (local, regional, state and national) named after them, to be recognised as major supporter of the AMA division and the events and to participate in other areas for which the VDC was responsible for.
The purpose of this initiative is to get the Australian recreational vehicle and motor vehicle industries more involved in grassroots events, to provide more opportunities for young people, new and exisiting drivers and riders to get involved and to help grow the AMA across the nation.
